Well, considering my last post was about 4 months ago (obviously I'm not very good at blogging regularly), these past few months have been a whirlwind! I have great intentions of blogging some longer posts on things that have happened lately, but while I'm still going through photos here's a quick recap on most of the stuff that's happened over the past few months.
In November, we met up with some friends during our alma mater's homecoming weekend, and it was fun to get together with everyone and also watch all of our kids play together.
We also found time to take an entire week off and go on a vacation. But is it really a vacation if you have a 23 month old with you? (Kidding...sortof...)
The week we got back from vacation, Brad spoke at Creative Mornings Nashville and we were able to meet up with lots of friends over lunch and dinner while we were there.
November also included celebrating Thanksgiving with both of our families and a getting a fun new camera!
December included a lot of travel in the first couple of weeks--we had a quick trip to NYC to film with the cast of Annie and then flew straight to LA for 5 days to film book promos and a few other projects. Miles turned 2 while we were in LA, so on the flight home he officially had his own seat and earned frequent flier miles. :)
The night we arrived home we stayed up late putting together a play kitchen for Miles' birthday and the next day we had a birthday party for him (because we are crazy. But it was nice to knock everything out and be able to relax the week after all of it was over.) Here's a photo of our big 2 year old:
We celebrated Christmas my family on Christmas eve and with just us 3 at home on Christmas morning, and then with Brad's family a few days after Christmas. I love when we can spread the holiday out instead of rushing from event to event.
Brad and I let Miles spend a few days with his parents at the end of December and were able to take a quick babymoon to Memphis over New Year's. We saw three movies (Into the Woods, Interstellar and Gone Girl--all amazing), ate lots of delicious meals and rang in the New Year with dinner at Beauty Shop (with a fun Frank Sinatra-type band) and a party at the Peabody Hotel (where we stayed for a few nights.)
January felt like it completely flew by--we shot a few more KP videos at our house, the BBC came to our house to film (so bizarre) and we spent a lot of time getting ready for the book release in February. Brad also went to LA with Robby and my dad for about 5 days to film a ton more book promos, but Miles and I enjoyed some quiet days at home while they were gone. TN had some pretty mild weather for January and we were even able to enjoy a few days playing outside!
The book officially released February 3, and the first couple weeks of February were completely full with the book release and a book tour (mostly to schools)! I was able to join for a few days by myself and then flew home to get Miles so that he could be there for part of it as well.
We've been home for the last week and I finally feel like things are slowing down, which is nice...considering I'm now 37.5 weeks pregnant. Only about 2-3 weeks until baby arrives! So, crazy! It definitely flies by with the second kid. Brad has a quick trip to CA next week for just three nights, but then should be home until baby arrives and for the first few weeks after (since I never even went into labor with Miles, I'm assuming this baby will probably be late, too, so I'm really not worried. #knockonwood)
We've had a little ice storm this week which has kept us mostly at home, but it's been nice--I've organized Miles' room and all of the baby's clothes and Miles has been suddenly taking 3+ hour naps so I've also been able to rest a lot! I never found time to officially get any maternity photos, so when I saw the fresh layer of snow falling yesterday morning, I texted my favorite photographer and friend Jud Davis to see if he was available to do a quick photoshoot in the snow in my backyard, and our 15 minute shoot turned out pretty awesome:
In the midst of all of these big things happening, Brad and I personally also have a new project that we are working on but not quite ready to share yet--hopefully soon! The timing is kinda crazy but it's a lot of fun, and much needed for both of us. More on that later. :)
